Sub-dessert climate, characterized by the lack 0f rain (140 mm. annually) and by the frequency of the trade winds. The average annual temperature is between 20º and 16ºC. January is the coldest month while August is the hottest month of the year.
The hign degree of insulation is another outstanding element of the climate presenting an annual average of 250 h. Relative humidity swings around 70%, lessen the strong dryness. The rains, as were mentioned previously, are short and happen from Seplember to May. The most raining month is January and the less raining month is August. The storm are not frequent at all.
The water temperature fluctuates between 17º to 23º e on the surface. Ocean currents are more intense and persistent on the leeward side and flow most of the time from NE to SW direction. parallel to the shores of the island.
